This policy explains how SumLou Limited (“Reported.News”, “we”) collects and uses personal data when you use reported.news. We are the data controller under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We have applied to register with the Information Commissioner’s Office (application reference C2051312), and we will add our registration number here once it is issued.

Data we collect

  • Usage data: pages viewed, device and browser information, and approximate location, collected through analytics and advertising cookies with your consent
  • Voting and flagging data: if you vote, flag a claim or follow a story, we record that action with technical data, such as a cookie identifier and a pseudonymised IP address, to prevent duplicate or automated voting
  • Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe
  • Contact: anything you send us by email, including tips and complaints

How we use it

To run and improve the site, to show advertising, to send newsletters you have asked for, to respond to you, and to protect the site from abuse.

Retention

We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, emails you send us (including tips and complaints) for up to 2 years, voting and flagging data for up to 12 months, and analytics data for up to 14 months.
