Political Impartiality Policy
Reported.News does not support any political party, candidate or campaign. Our job is to report what politicians and governments say and do, and to verify it.
What this means in practice
- Same standard for everyone. Claims by every party and government are checked to the same standard, and given the same verification status rules.
- Balance. Where a story involves a political dispute, we report the main competing positions fairly and in proportion.
- Verification, not verdicts. We will tell you whether a claim is supported by evidence. We do not tell you how to vote.
- Language. We use neutral terms and avoid loaded language from any side.
- Polls. We report who carried out a poll, its sample size and dates, and we do not overstate small movements.
- Elections. We follow electoral law and avoid publishing anything during polling hours that could be seen as influencing the vote, including exit polls before the polls close.
Reader votes
Reader votes on whether a story “matters” can influence its prominence on our homepage, but they never change a story’s content or its verification status. We monitor for coordinated voting and may discount votes that appear to be part of a campaign.
Opinion
Reported.News does not publish editorial opinion on party politics. Any commentary we publish will be clearly labelled.
